To celebrate World Book Day on Thursday 7th March, pupils will take part in a programme of activities next week based around bedtime stories.
On Thursday pupils have been asked to come to school in their PJs or dressed as their favourite book character with a blanket and a teddy bear.
Formal consultation on the proposal to split the Nottingham Academy into 2 separate academies ran for 6 weeks between 9 November and the 21 December 2018.
The extent of community and parental response to the consultation was relatively modest in number. However, there was strong overall support for the proposal to split the Nottingham Academy and establish 2 separate academies. There were 2 significant issues that were consistently raised during the consultation:
The consultation indicated a significant majority who were in favour of keeping the Nottingham Academy name for Greenwood Campus and a significant majority who were in favour of a completely new name for the new academy at Ransom Road. However, there was not support for the proposed name; the Mapperley Park Academy.
Based on the feedback received from consultation, on 25 January Greenwood Academies Trust’s Board agreed to submit an amended proposal to the Regional Schools Commissioner to split the Nottingham Academy into 2 separate academies where:

To mark the day, our year 4 and 5 Ukulele players have created a fantastic music video, with the help of music teacher Mr Barker.
A group of pupils from years 2 and 3 showed off their culinary skills during a school trip.
The pupils headed down to Wrinkly Lettuce café in Gedling as a treat to celebrate their good attendance for the term.
Ms Clancy, assistant head and primary teacher at Nottingham Academy, said: “The children had a lovely time on the trip to the Wrinkly Lettuce.
“They loved using public transport and their behaviour was amazing.
“We celebrate attendance each term and the children are so proud when they are the winning class.”
The children got to make pizza and they ate ice lollies.
Rosa, who is a pupil at the academy, said: “It was a great trip, I love coming to school and going out for the day was great.”
Pupil Bryan said: “The pizzas were delicious, I really enjoyed making them and eating them was even better.”
Pupils in years 4, 5 and 6 have been showing off their musical talents.
Around 40 pupils attend a weekly Ukulele club hosted by music teacher Mr Barker.
The club was set up three years ago with just five pupils, but since then it has grown and become incredibly successful.
Each week children learn different songs which they then practice at home. We have uploaded some song sheets so youngsters can learn in their spare time. These have been uploaded in the Photo Gallery section.
Mr Barker also has his own YouTube channel, where he regularly uploads new songs and tutorials.

Mr Barker said: “I am really impressed with how the children have developed their independent learning.
“These videos are designed for children so they can develop their skills to the next level.”
Pupils at The Nottingham Academy are being offered a free healthy breakfast each morning.
Bagels are served to pupils before they start their school day in a bid to boost academic performance.
The academy has joined the government's National School Breakfast Programme (NSBP), which is being delivered by the charities Family Action and Magic Breakfast.
The aim of the programme is to improve the pupils’ concentration because research shows at least half a million children in the UK arrive at school each day too hungry to learn.
The breakfast aims to give pupils energy, protein, vitamins and minerals, and will be low in sugar, salt and fat.
