What to do if your child is showing symptoms of Covid-19

What to do if your child is unwell and showing symptoms of Covid-19

Symptoms of Covid-19

As described on the NHS website the main symptoms of coronavirus are:

  • a high temperature
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot, for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours
  • a loss or change to sense of smell or taste – this means they cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

If your child has any of the main symptoms of coronavirus you should:

  1. Get a test to check if they have coronavirus as soon as possible.
  2. Stay at home and do not have visitors until you get the test result – only leave your home to have a test. Anyone you live with, and anyone in your support bubble, must also stay at home until you get the result.

If your child displays any of the above symptoms please keep them at home and book a test. Please also contact our Attendance Officer to report the absence and to let us know the result of the test.

You can call the office on 0115 7483385, option 1 for the attendance line or contact our Attendance Officer directly on 07736194791.

If you have symptoms or have tested positive for coronavirus, you'll usually need to self-isolate for at least 10 days from the day your symptoms started. Those in your household should self-isolate for 14 days.
