World Book Day 2018

Nottingham Academy pupils, we challenge you, over half term, to take a book, read outside and take a photograph of this happening! Read on to find out about other activities taking place for World Book Day.

To mark World Book Day 2018 on Thursday 1st March, we will be holding a host of  activities that will be spread out  throughout the first week back after half term! The theme for this year is Reading Rocks.

Activities will be linked to stories based on stones, pebbles and rocks with links to nature and the great outdoors.

Activities during the week will include:

-Mask making
-Reading a range of stories
-Decorating pebbles to tell a story  ( and sharing these with another class)
-Reading in the woods
-Receiving a voucher  to claim a free book
-Creating stepping stones of favourite books and authors
-Dressing up as a book character

•Children are invited to bring in their favourite book to school to share with their class at the start of the week (please make sure these are labelled with their name and class clearly.)

•Mrs Gospel and Mrs Balaguero will be selling a range of quality books at a discounted price on Wednesday 28th February and Thursday 1st March on both sites after school.

•There is  a whole school competition – Read a book in the Great Outdoors. During half term, children are invited to take a book outside, read and capture the moment on camera. There will be prizes for everyone who enters and special prizes for the most unusual pictures!

•Dressing up as a book character will take place on Friday 2nd March. Children are invited to come to school dressed up as a character from a book. The children will have made masks in school during the week so will have the option to use these as part of their costume if they like.
