A Fishy Update from the Art Department
An update from the Art where Miss Linekar has been working with pupils in every year group to learn sketching skills.
What a busy term we have had so far in art! Throughout this term and throughout the whole school pupils have been learning how to sketch. All the children have had some challenging pieces of art to create which they have done exceedingly well.
We have been learning that there are different graphites (pencils) to use with different sketching techniques such as hatching, cross-hatching, stumping, stippling and scumbling! Lots of technical language but your children from Years 1-6 will be able to explain it all to you.
The children have been sketching all different kinds of pictures from landscapes to drawing a still life of a sardine in which the children were able to take a real good look at the fish, smell it and even touch it, it was very exciting in the art room!
We have lots more to come, so keep your ears and eyes open from all your children for more great artistic things achieved.
