Basketball

Year 6 and some Year 5 girls attended a Basketball Festival at Wildcats on Wednesday 25th May. They learnt basketball skills by working in small groups and moving around different stations. The coaches commented on how well-behaved the girls were. They listened attentively, learnt many skills including dribbling, shooting, passing, positioning and aiming at the hoop.

Pupil Comments:

"I recommend this for everyone, it was fun, and we learnt a range of new skills. I will be taking up Basketball and attending the sessions."

"I tried my best at every station, it was amazing, I learnt new skills quickly, and the coaches were friendly and explain everything really well."

Athletics

Our Year 5 Athletics Team took part in a track and field event at Harvey Hadden. They competed against 16 other schools and finished in second place, only narrowly missing out on first place!

They were disappointed to not come first which meant they would have qualified for Regionals. However, it was an outstanding effort from all of them and they did us all proud!

All children competed in every event: 50m sprint, mini vortex howler, 400m run, standing long jump and the team relay.

Please see the picture below of our Year 5 Athletics Team with their silver medals.
