Academy Cricketers at Trent Bridge

Year 5 and 6 Academy Cricket Squad train with the West Indies!

Our Year 5 and 6 Cricketing Squad were lucky enough to have the opportunity to meet and train with some of the West Indies World Cup Cricket Squad on Tuesday 5th June. The children were incredibly excited by this opportunity, particularly as it took place on the pitch at Trent Bridge!

Expectations were already high, but we were just blown away by the amazingly inspiring and fun-filled session put on by the players and coaches. Four of the West Indies World Cup playing squad - Carlos Brathwaite, Sheldon Cotterell, Fabian Harris and Nicolas Pooran - led the sessions, alongside the fielding coach and former Pakistani international (and legend) Mushtaq Ahmed.

Every minute was packed with laughs and challenge! The children were totally inspired by this golden opportunity to develop their skills with some of the most talented players in the world. They received some great advice from all the players and coaches, and particularly loved their opportunity to learn Sheldon Cotterell's famous salute celebration. What a day!

Well done to Andrew Staszkiewicz for ensuring the children have access to brilliant events like this and many thanks to @windiescricket, @icc and @chance2shine for this life-changing opportunity.
