Have you ever wondered what life was like as an Egyptian? Well, in year 3 we became them! All day we learnt how to read and write hieroglyphics, how to mummify bodies (or in our case tomatoes) and how to build boats sturdy enough for the River Nile!
Our children enjoyed a day of celebrating the diverse range of cultures within our school. The children wore traditional dress and teachers spoke to children about their own culture and traditions they follow or have experienced through their travels around the world. Children also spoke confidently about their own cultures and traditions, including sharing traditional food and music. The children created posters to celebrate their own cultures and shared these with each other. It was wonderful to invite parents to get involved with this occasion, where they also wore traditional dress and shared stories from their culture.
Our girls football team travelled to Elland Road to take part in the National Finals. They did incredibly well to reach this stage of the competition, but then went one better and managed to win three out of their four games to get through to the national semi-finals. Unfortunately, we lost this game 3-1, but it was an incredible effort from a brilliant group of players who have given it their absolute all throughout this year. The day itself was an amazing experience for the girls. They were treated as Premier League players throughout the day. They were filmed they left the coach, accessed the Leeds United changing rooms, walked through the players tunnel and played all their games on the Elland Road pitch. Some of them were interviewed live in the stadium. We are incredibly proud of these girls for being such amazing ambassadors for our school and demonstrating such great skill and teamwork.
